Slovenia - 12 august 2025
For public-interest maintenance work on major motorway sections of the A1 between Domžale and Ljubljana (Zadobrova), including the šentjakob and Sneberje interchanges, the Motorway Company in the Republic of Slovenia (DARS d.d.) has awarded a €80.79 million contract. Two of Slovenia's top infrastructure and construction firms, CGP d.d. and POMGRAD d.d., make up the winning consortium. The agreement, which was signed on August 12, 2025, intends to guarantee better-maintained, safer, and more resilient motorway infrastructure in the busiest corridor in the country.
Overview of the Contract
"Vzdrževalna dela v javno korist za cesto in objekte na odsekih AC A1/0046/0646 Domžale - entjakob, A1/0047/0647 entjakob-LJ (Zadobrova), 0145 priključek LJ entjakob in 0189 priključek LJ Sneberje" covers necessary engineering and construction maintenance on the road surface and related structures.
The project will take 50 months to complete and will cost €80,786,656.61 (VAT excluded), which is much less than the original €93.55 million estimate and reflects a competitive procurement process.
Work Scope
Included in the contract are:
restoration of the A1 motorway's bridges and road surfaces.
upkeep of traffic control, safety barriers, and drainage systems.
The motorway intersections at Ljubljana Šentjakob and Ljubljana Sneberje have been upgraded.
Enhancements in safety and the environment to guarantee adherence to national and EU regulations.
The A1, Slovenia's main north-south transportation route that connects Šentilj, Ljubljana, and Koper, will undergo these repairs as part of DARS's long-term maintenance plan.
Results and the Tender Process
Three tenders, all submitted electronically, were drawn from the open procedure under Directive 2014/24/EU. The winner was chosen based on the lowest price criterion (100%) in this case.
