Description:
The purpose of the project is to establish a wetland in the area of the former saturation pool within the Ormož Lagoon Nature Reserve (NROL).
A total area of wetland in the Nrol area is currently 33 ha, of which 12.5 ha is predominantly undefeated, shallow flooded areas and poles in pools 5 and 6, which areA key habitat of some target nesting and most target bird migration. Most species of this habitat have not yet reached the set target sizes of populations in 2018-2024. A limiting factor that significantly affects their occurrence and abundance is a small available surfaceappropriate habitat. Therefore, the purpose of this project is to increase the surface of such habitats by establishing an additional wetland in the area of the former so -called. saturation pool.
Saturation pool (2.9 ha large) was dug during the construction of the Ormož sugar factory and then shortly after its operationIn the first half of the 1980s, it has been fully covered and remained in such a state to this day. In the plan of operation and editing of the Ormož Lagoon Nature Reserve, the saturation pool is defined as a separate management unit with the aim of establishing a habitat wetland for target bird species.
